Always on is optional. Chrome asks you to allow website access when you turn it on.
Normalize Volume adjusts supported website audio using Web Audio in your browser. It analyses short samples to adjust gain and compress peaks. The audio stream and these measurements are used locally to provide the audio feature; the extension does not record them to a file or transmit them to Esrok, an analytics service, or an advertising service.
Tab mode processes the selected tab’s mixed audio stream in a Chrome offscreen document and plays the result through your chosen output device. It requests tab audio only, with video disabled. It does not request microphone or camera access. Stopping Tab mode, turning normalization off, closing the captured tab, or reloading the extension releases that capture.
The extension saves your target level, normalization On/Off choice, and appearance in Chrome’s extension sync storage. Chrome may synchronize those preferences between your browsers when Chrome sync is enabled. Your Always on preference is saved locally in the browser profile.
Temporary capture and tab-pause state uses Chrome session storage and tab identifiers to coordinate processing. The extension does not maintain a browsing-history database. No email registration or account is required for the new 10–100% target range.
Always on starts off. Turning it on asks Chrome for optional access to HTTP and HTTPS websites so the extension can install its audio-processing code on supported pages and frames. That code handles media players and audio graphs for normalization. Website access can be removed in Chrome’s extension settings.
The extension uses the active tab’s identifier, URL, and playback status to decide where processing or fallback capture is appropriate. These checks support its audio controls; the extension does not send those website URLs to Esrok. Opening the popup on eligible playing audio can start Tab mode when Always on is enabled. Chrome requires you to invoke the extension before tab capture can begin. The popup shows processing status and provides a Stop tab mode control.
The extension contains no advertising or analytics scripts. It does not add advertisements to the websites you listen to.
The button opens an external Esrok webpage at esrok.com/test-audio/. Its URL includes your current target percentage and saved normalization choice, such as ?level=60&enabled=1. Those values are part of the normal website request and may appear in browser history, web-server logs, and page URLs. No audio, account identifier, or email address is added by the extension.
The sample page generates and processes its sounds locally in the browser. It stores the demo’s target and On/Off choice in website local storage and carries them in links between the five samples. These website controls do not update the extension’s saved preferences. Clear the site’s stored data in your browser to remove its saved demo choice.
The Esrok website is separate from the locally running extension. Visiting it sends ordinary request information to the website and hosting infrastructure, such as the requested URL, IP address, browser information, and the time of the request. If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send.
The Normalize Volume install and uninstall documentation pages include Google Analytics for website usage measurement. The install, update, uninstall, and five Test Audio pages include Adsterra advertising. These website services and their partners may receive request and device information, page/referrer information, and use cookies or similar browser storage according to their own practices and your browser settings. The extension does not transfer captured website audio to these services.
Website ad placements load automatically when they are near the viewport. Install and update banner frames are restricted from opening extra windows or redirecting the surrounding page. Ads on the Test Audio and uninstall pages may open advertiser pages. Advertiser websites have their own policies. You can close unwanted advertiser tabs using your browser’s controls.
Read more about Google’s privacy policy and Adsterra’s privacy policy. Browser controls can block or limit cookies and other website storage. Esrok’s other services are described in the general Esrok privacy policy.
No audio recording is retained by the extension. Preferences stay in the applicable Chrome storage until changed or removed. Website providers may retain their own request, analytics, advertising, or support records under their policies; this page does not promise a specific retention period for those third parties.
Normalize Volume uses information accessed through Chrome APIs only to provide its audio processing and controls, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Esrok does not sell this extension data or use captured audio or the extension’s website-access data for personalized advertising.
